It's certainly my favorite photo of the year (so far) and it's absolutely in my all time personal favorite Top 10. I love the colors, I love the contrast, I love the composition, I love the car! I only hope that there are equal or better photos in my future.BonK!https://www.blogger.com/profile/06551198617178412935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10825093.post-22859872725451047992009-05-09T04:20:00.000-04:002009-05-09T04:20:00.000-04:00I realized, just now, why Lotus cars stand out in ...I realized, just now, why Lotus cars stand out in my mind. Patrick McGoohan, aka Number Six, drives a Lotus Seven in the opening sequence of nearly every episode of "The Prisoner". I believe there was at least one, maybe two, episodes that did not feature the rather lengthy introductory sequence in which our hero quits his post with a British secret service organization, drives home in his Lotus Seven to collect his things, and is subdued with a knockout gas, waking up in 'The Village' where spies are kept after they retire, because they know too much.

Honorable Mention goes to the white submersible Lotus Esprit piloted by James Bond in "The Spy Who Loved Me". According to Wikipedia, Lotus cars appeared in two other Bond films as well: the original "Casino Royale" and "For Your Eyes Only". Personally, I prefer Number Six's taste compared to Q's selections.

Finally, the type of racers I've always preferred were those depicted in the "Speed Racer" cartoon. Check out the Lotus Eleven for a prime example, and the Lotus 23. Believe it or not, Speed Racer occasionally drove a Formula 1 car. It, too, was a white and red car numbered 5 and, if memory serves me well, was more similar to a Lotus Formula racer than others of the period.BonK!https://www.blogger.com/profile/06551198617178412935noreply@blogger.com
